Service was excellent and friendly. When I mentioned my disappointment with the moon pie, it was quickly taken off the bill. Will return in the future.

Had a delightful snack while in the area. Not every item id a home run. Cheese plate is a little boring. Duck egg salad is a bit over seasoned, but the crunchy sweet pork cracklings in its side salad are delightful. Desserts are very good except for the moon pie. Those was too dry and hard for my taste.

Great coffee and tea that I had while there. Cake was good but a very pricy for the portion of cake you got ($9 for a small slice of cake). Coffee was a much more reasonable price which is the only reason it didn't get 3 stars.

Recent trip here was disappointing. Not because of the food--which is prepared by the chefs at Cakes & Ale and is exceptional--but because of the false advertising. We had eaten at the Cakes & Ale restaurant on December 30, and received a card inviting us to eat at the cafe from 5-8 p.m. and have half-price wines, along with specially priced menu items. When we did so, we were told the half-price wine special was no longer running, which was odd. Odder still: when we received our bill it came attached to the same card, telling us we could enjoy half-priced wines at the cafe from 5-8 p.m. (we ate from 5:45-6:30). When we pointed this out to our waiter, he admitted this was misleading, and asked for our names so he could communicate our dismay to the manager. We never heard back from him about this conversation, and we paid full price for our wine and food. Quite disappointing.

Every time I go, I get this air of "Who are you and why are you bothering us with trivial things like taking and serving your order". I find the atmosphere to be as if they are so good and hip that serving customers is just beneath them. Good but overpriced pastries, and high priced mediocre coffee round out this establishment. Do yourself a favor and walk a block in any direction to one of the many other fine eateries in Decatur.

Beautiful modern cafe. I was there as part as a food tour. We were presented with a chocolate tart with a malted topping. It was delicious! And it was organic! I'll be back!
