We had the family style meal. Everything was delicious. My stake was a little too charred on the outside but the not a huge deal. The setting and decorations create a cosy environment. I would definitely go again.
This is the ultimate place to get your Southern cooking fixing! I would fly to Atlanta just to enjoy a home-cooked southern fare here. Yes, it is that good! Words cannot come close how happy my taste buds were as I walked out of here. Located in a true Craftsman house in Downtown Decatur, the decor is charming like a southern gentleman and the food is down right amazing. Your grandma's cooking is pale in comparison. The meatloaf is to die for. That Bourbon-peach glaze covered bacon crust is addictive. The Candied Peacan Whipped Sweet Potato is smoky, sweet and nutty. It's whipped so light, it melts in your mouth. Do leave without the Ice Box Lemon Pie. Come in size of bear paw. Simple 3 layers of supreme greatness, moist and dense homemade graham cracker crust, silky and lemony custard, and rich but lofty freshly whipped cream.
Southern. Southern. Got it? Wonderful ambiance, the side dishes are particularly strong. Fried chicken was a bit of a let down. But overall, great place for a comfortable meal, especially with friends. We ate on Decatur Pirate Bar Crawl Night. This was unintentional but an added degree of fun.
Food was AWESOME. I had the baked apple for dessert - fantastic variation on apple crisp. Service was excellent. Food was prompt, but not rushed, and the wait staff was always making sure we had drinks. Location is great, complimentary valet parking, and the house it's in is gorgeous. Five stars!
The closed on Sunday chicken sandwich is a little slice of heaven. Also the cinnamon roll is great. It came in a cast iron skillet and is good for sharing. Also loved the ambiance of the restaurant. Very cozy and laid back.
